Gov't says new GOV.JM portal will create cultural change

Jamaicans , at home and abroad, tired of searching the Internet for information for access to personal or business information and applications, may be extremely pleased with the launch of GOV.JM, the new government portal offering a single, free online gateway to its services.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness, in welcoming the launch of the portal last weekend, said that it will “eliminate hierarchical bureaucratic structures… and create a cultural change”,

The new portal will not only enable access to personal documents like passports, birth, death and marriage certificates, but also business applications for things like import and export permits and licences, as well as access to forms and links for doing business and investing in Jamaica, and is expected to significantly improve Jamaica's ratings in terms of “doing business” this year.
